French Minister of Justice
Éric Dupond-Moretti was appointed as Minister of Justice on July 6, 2020. He began his career in 1984 as a criminal lawyer, and after thirty years spent in Lille, he passed the Paris Bar in 2016 and founded the Dupond-Moretti & Vey law firm. To this day, he holds the record for the highest number of acquittals obtained by a lawyer on French territory. During the transfer of power with his predecessor, on July 7, 2020, he promised to make the Ministry of Justice a place dedicated to its commitment to "anti-racism and human rights." The Minister is notably committed to the development of efficient local and community justice, and has placed particular emphasis on the protection of women against domestic violence and the overall simplification of judicial procedures through a significant budget increase.
