Asha was born and brought up in Mauritius, a paradisiacal island in the Indian Ocean where her grandfather was the first prime minister following independence. As the child of a cosmopolitan and English-speaking state, she benefitted from a high standard of education that was modelled on the British system. Mauritian school leavers are generally bi-lingual, if not multi-lingual. Asha speaks English, French, Hindi and Morisien.
Today, Asha is a business woman, television journalist and Emcee specialising in economics and finance. After her degree from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and a diploma from Cambridge University, she began her career at Canal Plus, a French television channel.
Asha currently presents Sustainable Energy, a magazine broadcast on the American business channel CNBC, and Le Club, a short programme on BFM, a French business channel. She also produces and presents Business Africa and Initiative Africa, two programmes focusing on economic and political news in Africa and broadcast in about fifty countries.
Alongside her activities as a journalist, she is also a lecturer at France’s École Nationale d’Administration and the Sorbonne University.
Before devoting her career to journalism and teaching, she worked in the fashion industry for brands such as, L’Oréal, Yves Rocher, Sonia Rykiel, Dior and Chanel.
