Chief Executive Officer of the French Patent and Trademark Office
Pascal Faure has been Chief Executive Officer of the French Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) since 13 September 2018. A graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and Télécom ParisTech and a Corps des Mines engineer, Pascal previously served as the Director General of Enterprise in France’s Ministry for the Economy and Finance (2012 to 2018). He began his career in R&D, working for Bell Laboratories and Apple Computer in the United States and for France’s national telecommunications research centre (CNET). He subsequently held various positions in the French ministries for the Budget, Tourism, Regional Planning & Integration, and Defence. From 1997 to 2001, he served as Director of Development and Financial Affairs and Deputy Managing Director of Institut Telecom, a research and higher education institution specialized in information and communication technologies. He was Vice Chairman of the General Council for Information Technology within France’s Ministry for the Economy from 2007 to 2009 and Vice Chairman of the General Council for Industry, Energy and Technology from 2009 to 2012. He has also served as chairman of the French association of telecommunications engineers (AIT) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Institut Telecom. Pascal Faure is a member of the European Patent Organisation’s Administrative Council and Chairman of its Budget and Finance Committee.
